Today is Kathy's 80th birthday. Dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse later and shopping with her gift card that she received from one of her nephews.

Will do Ralph. She is getting ready and we are going out to shop and then to get her filet mignon. Give Betty a hug for us also.

The dinner was delicious. Long Horn serves the most tender filet that we have found anywhere in the area and Kathy absolutely loves that particular cut of meat. We eat out frequently at many of the local chain restaurants. Darden owns quite a few off them that we eat at, and I have the app on my phone to get discount online coupons for discounted items at all of them. I am far from an experienced food critic, but our meal yesterday was worthy of extra praise.
We started with a free appetizer that I had on my phone as a result of having the app that gives us access to some freebies, coupons, and other specials. They are trying out a new appetizer dip called "surf and surf." It is wonderful mix of generous portions of lump crab meat and shrimp served with toasted and seasoned flat bread wedges for dipping. She had the filet and I had a 12 ounce ribeye. Everything was delicious and the check came to only $58. The quality of the food and the great service definitely worth the price.
What impressed us both most was the service we received from an older woman that served us. She asked if she should hold our entree's until we had finished our appetizer. She then came by and asked if I was ready for my salad and she brought the salads and warm bread. She allowed us time to enjoy our salads came back a short time later and asked if we were ready for our entrée. We actually were able to eat a leisurely and enjoyable dinner, unrushed and with everything being delivered to the table in a well timed manner that allowed us to eat at a reasonable pace, and still have our entrée. I wouldn't elaborate so much, but it was absolutely amazing service for a chain restaurant.
They had a written survey on a printed card concerning the new appetizer. When we had finished the appetizer the manager came over and told us that it was being tried out for a limited time to see how well it is received by the customers. I gladly filled out the quick survey, simply checking a few boxes in response to multiple choice questions. When he came back to get the survey he handed me a business sized card good for a free appetizer on our next visit. I was surprised. The appetizer costs $10.49 if you don't have the free appetizer offer. With the one that we ate, plus the one that he gave us a card for, we will actually be getting $21 worth of free food.
If you get a chance to eat at the Long Horn in NH, order the Surf and Surf appetizer dip. You will not be disappointed. I would not rave about it except that it was absolutely delicious, and would be unequalled by any upscale privately owned independent restaurant.

Wow Clipper that sounds fantastic and I did not know there was a Long Horn in New Hartford. I guess I never paid attention. You waitress sounds delightful and that certainly makes the meal and experience so much enjoyable.

Sorry. My mistake PB. I was thinking of the Texas Roadhouse in New Hartford. There are no Long Horns in upstate NY. The closest are downstate or in New Jersey. A bit of a drive for dinner. lol
If you ever have a chance, I imagine that you would enjoy Long Horn. It is a more relaxed and quiet atmosphere. No waitresses line dancing in the aisles or loud and rowdy bar crowd or country music playing, and the steaks are of a higher quality.
