I don't know about you but I am over this hot weather and looking forward to more fall like temperatures. It is going to 94 here today. A good day to get out and take a ride in an air conditioned vehicle.
I just got back from turning the truck in at the body shop and getting the rental. I opted for a Chrysler Town Country minivan and now we are tempted to have a second vehicle again. We have missed our Caravan since we gave it away. Do we NEED a second vehicle? Probably not, but it is nice to ride in a smaller and more economical vehicle that rides better than a pickup when we travel without the trailer or just drive around town. I love the "stow and go" folding seats that fold down into the floor if you want cargo space in the middle of the van, and I love the remote electric door and hatch opening feature, and the hooks on the seatbacks to hang grocery sacks so they don't tip over.

There are times when I miss my Caravan. Seating for 5 grandchildren and the Sto & Go seats we great when I needed to haul something. On the other hand I don't get calls anymore, "Dad, can you meet me at Home Depot with your van?"

There are times when I miss my Caravan. Seating for 5 grandchildren and the Sto & Go seats we great when I needed to haul something. On the other hand I don't get calls anymore, "Dad, can you meet me at Home Depot with your van?" LOL! Yep. Many times over the years I got that call. Family and friends needing something hauled in my pickup. Lawn tractors to the shop, appliances picked up from Lowe's and Best Buy, lumber, and the final straw was loose mulch loaded with a bucket loader. Now I have made it known that my truck is strictly for everyday driving and towing our trailer. The person for whom I hauled three loads of mulch, thirty miles round trip from a mulch dealer out in the middle of nowhere, requiring over an hour of clean up with a brush and pressure washer to get the stuff out of the corners of the box, put the frosting on the cake when I stopped for gas during the second trip. I didn't fill the tank. I simply put $20 in the tank. This person never offered to pay for even a portion of that. He frosted the cake when he went into the store and brought me back a small coffee, and said "this is the least I can do." Yep, absolutely the LEAST he could do. Personally I would have offered to pay for gas up front, and would have at least paid for part of it. Now I tell people who ask, and few ask any more, I don't haul stuff in the back of my truck, and you can rent a uhaul pickup for $19.95 for local use.

I let my cousin borrow my truck a few years ago to pick up a cord of firewood because Mr. Big Shot was to cheap to go rent a trailer. He returned the truck to me with a thanks! The next day I noticed that he broke the vent shade on the passenger side rear window without telling me, that prick. I never mentioned it because he'd deny it anyway. Now, I'll occasionally help out family members to haul something but only if I'm driving & their lifting. Lesson learned.

Years ago I burned wood and hauled a lot of it in my trucks. My boys and I were loading some one time and my oldest threw a block of wood through the back window. Not a big deal. It was covered on insurance but I never did get all the little kernels of safety glass out of it. even after vacuuming and sweeping until I couldn't find any more, every once I would find a few more little pebbles of glass.
I used to haul stuff for people, but never loaned anyone my truck. Kathy has only driven it a very few times, like when she had to drive to and from the hospital when I had my knees replaced or had my shoulder surgery.

So cold today I wore my winter coat. Weather Channel said that from September 18 to 24 expect a heat wave for eastern States. Have to see what happens.
