UTICA AND ROME PLAINTIFFS FILE NEW LAWSUITS UNDER CHILD VICTIMS ACT SYRACUSE – Two law firms announced several more lawsuits as part of the state’s Child Victims Act, including one in Utica and another in Rome. At a news conference Thursday morning, six more lawsuits against the Diocese of Syracuse were revealed, but the attorneys who announced them say 22 more are in the queue and that number will likely include more Utica-area victims and defendants. One of the six lawsuits announced involves former Utica-area priest Felix Colosimo, now deceased. Attorneys were able to tell NewsChannel 2 a few details about the alleged victim, who was 17 at the time the alleged abuse took place in 1976. The unnamed plaintiff was 'very active' at St. Peter’s Church in Utica, where Colosimo was assigned by the Diocese. Two additional cases were filed locally on Wednesday, one against the Boy Scouts of America and its local Leatherstocking Council, and the other against the Rome City School District, Stokes Elementary School, and a district band teacher. These new lawsuits are in addition to the New Hartford priest sexual abuse lawsuit NewsChannel 2 first reported Wednesday. The state opened a one-year window allowing for the filing of civil molestation cases once blocked by the statute of limitations. www.wktv.com/content/news/Utica-and-Rome-plaintiffs-file-new-lawsuits-under-Child-Victims-Act-544780681.htmlI feel for the new Bishop.
