Well now a complete remodeling is in the works for the Walmart in North Utica. Went to my favorite shopping spot today to pick up some items and since I have pretty well memorized the layout of the store I went to where I usually go for these items and low and behold MOVED. What a time I had so I talked with some very nice associates and they gave me the low down. Looks like I will go to New Hartford for awhile!! Should look real nice when done but I will have to re-learn where all my things are located. I am surprised so many items were moved around last night. I remodeled a store I worked in when I was manager of a drapery store in Syracuse and I feel for those workers. Mine was not as big as Walmart. I just thought Ralph must be having the time of his life.

My former daughter in-law worked managing a traveling team for Walmart that would go in and reset the configuration of the shelving and fixtures. Her team also was tasked to set up the original fixtures and shelving prior to a new store opening. I am sure that the process has been improved many times since she held that job in the late 80's.
Yes, I do feel sorry for Ralph. The employees will have to learn where everything goes also.

Tough on employees and tough on old guys. We keep a notepad on the kitchen table and write stuff on it aswe run low. Before we go shopping I prefer to rewrite it in walk-the-store order. Walmart and Hannaford have both re-merchandised and I still have trouble finding stuff. They need an ap into which I can type my list and it will generate a route for me.

I learned today that many young people with and without young children swear like a trucker. People couldn't find what they were looking for and my goodness how upset they become. Doesn't bother me at all I eventually find what I want. LOL That "F" word is very very popular and how I hate hearing it especially when women use it. Just demeans them I think.

I found a pizza shell at Walmart made of cauliflower. I am making Margherita pizza tonight. I let ya all know how it works and tastes.

My son and his girlfriend make their own cauliflower crust. They are on the Keto diet. He says that it is very good. I have eaten cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes. Kroger sells riced cauliflower that cooks up just like mashed potatoes. Good either with a bit of butter and salt and pepper or with gravy.

Oh yeah, I am positively thrilled to death. This is a three month long project which will shift a LOT of stuff around the store. They're going right down to the concrete floor for this one! It's really hard on us who work there, especially doing the stocking during the day as some of the aisles have become narrower. You can barely get a cart in there let alone a shopper and an employee trying to work it. Freight coming in is also crazy! We are getting a lot of new items that will hit the shelves after/during the remodel. It comes in mixed with our regular freight and has to be handled several times before it goes to a bin to await it final resting place on a new shelf. Turns a regular 4 hour task into a 6 hour task. It's like gearing up for Black Friday all over again. It will be nice when it's done, but in the meantime, it sucks.

Barb and I were shopping Sunday on our stock up on staples weekend. First stop was at Target where they were having a buy $50 dollars in household products and get a $15 gift card. We were easily able to get to $50 just in paper products. Paid for part of it with the $10 gift card from our trip there last month and a coupon and got our $15 card. We probably have enough Kleenex, TP and paper towels to last until late September but it won't spoil.
Next stop Walmart. It was re-merchandised at least a year ago and I still can't find stuff. Barb had an item on her list which we hadn't bought in some time. We both knew where it had been and searched both sides of 2 aisles before giving up.
My thought, could use an ap with which I could put my shopping list into my computer and it would send a walk the store list to my phone noting the aisle numbers.
Alternatively, I suppose I could game the system a bit by sending them a list of non-perishables for which I don't have coupons, let employees pick them and pack them in my car. Then I could drive to the front entrance and shop for my own refrigerated, frozen and veggies.

OGP works pretty good in our place, they have a good crew working it. There IS a Walmart App that will help you locate stuff in a specific store if you download it. Products change/move there every six months or so, some are moved, new ones come in, and some just disappear. We have no idea what, when, or why they come or go. The ones moved are moved for retail-psychological reasons. If you have to look more to locate your favorite items you will hopefully see new ones and buy them as well. To be honest, it drives us nuts.

Thanks Ralph.
I learned something very interesting when I tried to install it. It asked which device. Apparently two other devices have accessed my GMail account more recently than I have. I don't use it for much. I grabbed it when G Mail first came out to lock up my name. Changer the PW right away,

I think they should provide the same program that they use for their curbside pick-up. I don't know about Walmart, but Kroger has every item coded and the shelving marked off in numbered sections and the program even tells them what shelf to look on, whether it be top, middle, or bottom shelf when they get to the numbered section.
I pretty well know both my favorite Kroger store as well as our closest Food City store well enough that I should probably take a part time position doing the shopping for curbside customers. The only drawback is that I have seen some people who show up to pick up the groceries in a downpour. They don't care, but the poor people that are loading them in their car are getting drenched. I watched a lady who had purchased a flat bed cart load of totes full of bagged groceries, stand fat, dumb, and happy, under her golf umbrellas while the poor sucker that was loading the groceries in the car was in danger of drowning. I don't think I would want my groceries to be put in the care with rain water dripping from the plastic bags.
Kroger pays $12 and hour for that position. Not too bad for a part time gig to just make a couple of extra bucks but I would not want to have to put myself through college or feed a family on it.
Gee Ralph, it will be hard enough for the customer to locate the item, but it will equally as difficult for you to know where the hell to put them when you stock the shelves. lol

If I shop online and don't buy the item, if it goes on sale, they send me an email alerting me of the sale and telling me the aisle and bin number where it is located. Yes, I have given them some personal info but traded that for time and money.

Wow the Jewelry Department is now gone from North Utica Walmart. Went tonight because I forgot to buy Purdue cubed chicken breast so I can make Chicken Salad in the morning. LOL The meat department crew laughed because in my search for a smaller package I found an outdated package of chicken breast way in the back of the shelf. Only 4 days over the sell by date but they pulled it and thanked me. Thought I would get a discount but no.

Some of the cashiers laugh cause I pretty much have memorized the codes for the certain fruit.

What burns me up about that N. Utica WalMart is that the smaller push carts seem to be in short supply. If I walk in on the grocery side, there on the Paharmacy side of the store. If I walk in on the Pharmacy side, they're on the grocery side. I can't win. And that's if I can even find one. Are people stealing the damn things?
