I was just reading about flooding on the parkway and over around N. Utica. We are also seeing rain here, falling in deluge proportions. Small stream flooding here is always a problem when there is so much rain that comes so fast. The mountains around us drain into small creeks as the water comes out of the mountains. Those streams eventually drain into the river systems, but close to the mountains, in the hollows and valleys the water rises quickly with no place to go and floods homes, washes out roads, and causes overall havoc. Our news this morning showed a stream that is normally about 10 feet wide and a foot or so deep, roaring brown and so deep that it was carrying a minivan and an SUV along like corks, tumbling and bouncing off of trees along the banks.
It has stopped for now, but more is expected as the day goes on. We are supposed to get a break from the rain tomorrow but rain is back in the forecast again over the weekend and into next week.

You know it is bad when Saranac Thursday has to be cancelled. Which it is.

Well you can't hold a beer in each hand and still hold an umbrella. That would impede the ability to consume copious volumes of brew in an expedient manner. I guess those disappointed fans will have to take their two fisted drinking style to one of the bars on Varick Street, haha.
I have see the photo galleries in the OD. It certainly seems to be a popular event. Do you ever go PB or is it all rock music that would not interest our generation?

I don't like crowds of people like that plus having to leave the event deaf.

I can relate to the crowd thing as well as the leaving the event deaf. I find that many modern day "musicians" ( I use that term loosely) attempt to cover up a lack of singing talent and poor musical ability as instrumentalists by simply cranking the volume up to a level where nothing that resembles "music" is discernable through all the sheer NOISE! Not to mention that I am not fond of wading among a bunch of drunks and punks.

I think the last time I was there was when I worked for the OD and I volunteered to pour beer. It is not a great venue for music but most of the people seemed to be there to party. I don't think there is any particular type of music.

When I can here the music at my house, a mile away, you know it's loud.
