I went to Panera many years ago when I had a car. It is difficult for me to get to because from what I see with the Bus I would have to get off at Walmart in Consumer Square then walk down the hill and way over to that section of the Square. Otherwise I would have to get off at Rite Aid on Henderson St in New York Mills and hike all of way and climb the hill. Downhill might be better! I will wait til spring when weather is better.
I did have to stop at a bank a few weeks ago for an ATM and it was snowing like crazy. I didn't realize it but when I walked in the bank I had my hood to my coat pulled up over my hear and a scarf around my face. Two security guards immediately came up to me looking very serious!!!!! I quickly said oh the weather is awful out there and proceeded to take my hood off. One said to me: Sir please do not do that again.............yeaks.

We probably eat at the Panera in Erie PA more often than the one in New Hartford. Whenever we drive west that is our lunch stop. Barb has a grilled cheese with bacon. It's not on the menu anymore but they make it if asked.

We are fortunate in that we don't have to drive the twenty miles to Kingsport for a good deli sandwich and soup anymore. McAlister's Deli ( a chain exclusive to the southeast) opened a restaurant about 3 miles up the road in Bristol Va. The size of their sandwiches and their homemade soup remind me of the deli's in the NE. Other than Panera, deli's are not that popular here. I miss the "stack" sandwiches we use to buy at Manny's when they carried a full menu. The meat was stacked 2 or 3 inches high on a variety of breads. McAlister's has a club sandwich that has 13 layers, and all their sandwiches fresh, tall, and delicious. Their menu is more extensive than Panera. The only thing missing is the store baked breads that can be purchased by the loaf a Panera. Take a peek at the photos in their menu. www.mcalistersdeli.com/menu

Hey Clipper, thanks for the link. I went to Panera's website & the onion soup is listed. But at $16.99 for a serving of 4, looks like I'll be making my own. And we have all the ingredients on hand.
