lite987.com/is-tops-markets-closing-its-cny-grocery-stores/I don't know much about the Tops Markets in later years but I certainly hope they hold off on any action until after our vacation in July. When we are staying at the RV Park at Turning Stone, I always make at least a couple of early morning trips to the Tops in Oneida for hot fresh donuts. made in the store. When we are in that area I shop there. I am not a big fan of Price Chopper. I am simply a fan of the smaller stores rather than the massive superstores. I am sure that Walmart's supercenters have had a major impact on the Tops market's as they have on almost EVERY other grocery retailer. Between the Walmart store and the Price Chopper in Oneida I would not be at all surprised to see Tops close. I am old fashioned. When we lived in Utica I loved having all the mom and pop stores and family owned businesses to patronize. I bought meat at the meat markets, baked goods at the bakeries, milk at Byrne Dairy or Stewarts, and patronized locally owned restaurants as opposed to chain restaurants most of the time. Sadly here in our area there are very few small, custom cutting meat markets, only one bakery here in Bristol, and one fish market.

There is a halal meat market on Bleecker near Mohawk Street and an Italian meat market on Bleecker near Caruso Pastry Shop. The Italian butcher is open Thursday and Friday and Saturday 9 AM not sure of closing but I know it is still open at 3PM and Sunday 9AM to 12noon he is also very busy. Windows are usually dirty on the Arab meat butcher shop so I can't go in. I have a think about dirty windows and cleanliness.
