Topix of Utica is the cesspool of the Internet. Ocassionally when I visit I am just dumbfounded of the mentality of most of those bird brains on there. They should try using that energy effectivly like get an education or a job. (yeah tell us what you really think) When I read tthe posts I am embarassed for Utica.

They do have jobs. A healthy percentage of the posters are Utica city employees, as the UPD leaks rather handily demonstrate.

Hahahahaha! That is somehow appropriate, disheartening and funny all at the same time!
I agree with Chris. But I believe most of the Topix posters are under 18. Way under. Adults with so little sense would have trouble connecting up a PC to the Internet. I wonder if the City of Utica is violating the Child Labor Laws. There's a story: "Nepotism Has No Age Limit: Roefaro Hires School Children." Why not? WKTV did.

Oh, there are a few kids, but I think the majority of posters are well over 18. At least one of them is a prominent local politician who happens to be a member here (who also has a habit of forgetting to delete the metadata identifying him from the photos he posts).

Ditto, there are def some folks "in the know" hanging out on Topix. In between the nonsense, there is some good stuff as well as a handful of bright and knowledgeable people.

I always use it for comments, at least locally. There have been a few times I've been tempted to troll anonymously, but I usually resist the urge.
If you think Topix is a cesspit you should stop by at 4chan, where they've raised truly tasteless and disgusting commentary to an artform. Watching masterful trolls at work is a joy, but you'll want to take a shower after you visit.

It's the evil side of human nature. The problem is that everyone thinks that because they are behind a monitor it protects them like some sort of shield of anonimity and they are invisible but that is where they are badly mistaken.

I do try to envision all of us sitting around a table when I post, and try to not say anything I wouldn't say if you were sitting across from me. (Unless I get really provoked!) I suppose I'm not always successful. Regrettably, this comes from experience. I mean the experiences were regrettable.

Topix! The Utica Topix makes the entire area look like someplace I want nothing to do with. I don't post there, but I do read it...it's like a train wreck...I just can't stop myself from reading it!
